NBCU Bold Vets shares the five reasons why it is NBCU’s duty
and privilege to hire US Military veterans, families of servicemen
and women, and the military community at large. Through a series
of panels, first-hand accounts, fireside chats, and compelling visual storytelling, we will focus on each of the “5 Whys” – featuring NBCU leadership, current veterans on staff, and special guests from the military community. The overall storytelling for the two-hour event will be threaded by narrative featuring these “shout outs” by NBCU Talent with connections to the military.

One of the most marketable features of veterans is the wealth of knowledge they acquire while on the Armed Forces. From operations to engineering, finance to the arts, those who have served in the military are uniquely poised to transfer these specialized skills to the workplace. Through a discussion panel, NBCU veterans in residence will share examples of skills they were able to transfer and apply to real-world scenarios, through the varied departments at NBCU Ad Sales team. NBCU leaders will also share their perspective on the skills these vets bring to the table.

While leadership is key, no mission can be successful without teamwork. Whether in the military or in the industry, members of a team need to work together efficiently and effectively toward a common goal. A panel of veterans will discuss team dynamics and related constructs, such as team identity/pride, individual sacrifices, interpersonal communications, etc.

The first 4 “Whys” are sound business reasons why NBCU should hire veterans, families of servicemen and women, and the military community
at large. But there is also one powerful human reason: it is the right thing
to do. Veterans have risked and sacrificed so much for this country, for every one of us. This is the opportunity for us to honor their sacrifice and repay our debt to them. A panel of business leaders from NBCU and beyond will pay tribute to our veterans by sharing real-time success stories of the military community currently in residency.
